Condors over the Canyon

Sedona, Arizona, United States
After a rough night got up and fiddled with the bike trying to find cause of misfire, nothing obvious. We packed up slowly taking us both a bit of time to wake up, this camping lark is not all it is cracked up to be. Head for the canyon and spent more on lattes and pastries for breakfast than the cost of camping. The view was incredible As we were enjoying breakfast watched Californian Condors soaring above the canyon, awesome!
Walked the rim and looked down on Angel Bright Trail in remembrance of epic walk of 2006, to be reenacted in 2016.
Having changed the route the night before we have to re think, plan was the Meteor crater and the wave but these will have to wait. We ride towards Sedona, Michelle had told us how pretty it was. My thought was we could camp as there was a few sites near the town and thought Tom would be happy with this. Route takes us to Flagstaff and then off on a scenic route it is mid afternoon already the sun is low in the sky. The road winds it way down the canyon the GPS gets in a right muddle as the road seems to run over itself. We follow 2 trucks heavily laden with firewood no getting round them on this road. The area is National forest it soon became apparent that most of it was cordoned off. I find out later this was due to a large fire earlier in the year and now the worry of flash flooding. Ohh dear no camping.....

Make a phone call for a decent nights kip in the Best Western,

Some times when you turn in late a compromise has to be made on where you stay. This time we were lucky not only was the room huge but we had a balcony over looking Oak creek and the famous red rocks.

No repeat of misfire.
