Just a little slip

Gomez Palacio, Northern Mexico, Mexico
Due to the stupid comment of the guy at dinner everyone was a bit subdued and had hid credit cards and cash in various places in preparation on being robbed and kidnapped.
The weather was grey which matched our mood.

Left Parral and chose the direct route to Durango down the 14, all started well then we started hitting roadworks involving detours on dirt alongside the roadworks. We managed about six of these and were about 120 miles from Durango and came to a long stretch of dirt road.
Lindsay was leading after about 100 metres he suddenly slid and went down, I hadn't got the words out "Lindsey's Gone Down" when we joined him. We were not going fast but both went down fairly hard. We were all ok but wrestled to get the bikes up as it was so slippy it was difficult to stand. Covered in slimy mud we eventually got the bikes back to the road. It seems a downpour just before we had arrived turned the dirt road to snot.

We checked ways of bypassing the snot but in the end conceded defeat and headed back up the road for 8 miles and detoured to Gomez.

One positive from this fall is we were all so relieved to not be hurt we forgot about being robbed by some drug gang and got back to enjoying the ride.

After a busy ride into town with a GPS sending us the wrong way down one way streets we found a BW which was really nice and while Tracy and Marion scraped the mud off our gear. Lindsay and me did a good job of straightening our panniers which had took the brunt of the fall with two rocks.

This took several hours fortunately we appeared to have crossed across another time zone so we gained some day light back, we cleaned the mud off our clothes which seemed to have set as hard as bricks and stained everything it touched.

Alls well that ends well and after a few beers and a good meal we slept safe in our beds knowing we had out smarted the bandits with our sudden change of direction.
