Border Crossing into Panama

David District, Chiriqui, Panama
After trying to speak to the ferry company and BMW without success we left with the intention of reaching Neiley which is just before the border into Panama. The road was in great shape and with the only exception of a fallen tree which had blocked the road we had no delays so decided to head for the border and get into Panama.

The view of the travel guides and blogs was that the Panama border crossing was the easiest. We arrived amongst chaos of trucks cars taxis under dark clouds and pulled into the border and under a shelter just as the usual afternoon monsoon started. We were an easy target for a fixer who waved us into a spot behind a truck and started to describe the process in Spanish.
We realise that this was the Panama border and we did not have the exit stamps or permits from Costa Rica so back we have to go. The bikes have to be turned round in between trucks up curbs no easy fully loaded. The fixer from Panama stayed with us and showed us were to pay for our exit stamp. At immigration they wanted us to pay again 30 minutes of arguing finally they give us the stamps. We go back to Panama.

3 hours later we are ok to go. Rain has eased slightly but it is getting dark. We are all soaked through. We had the name of 1 hotel in David fortunately it was showing on the GPS, looked a bit basic but actually it was ok and it had a restaurant which was surprisingly good.
