Road works on the panamerican highway

Santa Clara, Coclé, Panama
All gear still damp from yesterday's rain mine particularly smelly now, (Tom)

The day did not start well. after finally speaking to Isabell at Ferryxpress she casually mentioned the ferry would not be taking vehicles for about 15 days. She suggested we stay in Costa Rica until it starts up again, but as we have already left that will be a bit difficult.
We decided to head to Panama City and try and sort things out.

A 200 mile journey to Santa Clara should be ok the map showed a motorway the reality was a single carriageway with some bumpy bits and potholes. Loads of roadworks where the second carriageway is being constructed but its a long way off being finished yet. This is the Panamerican highway the main route through Central America and in places it's down to a single carriageway concrete road through jungle where the road has broken up and trucks swerve onto the wrong side of the road to avoid the potholes.

However we had a great ride no rain though valleys and rivers very green and lush. Heard them described as jungle rivers, vines hanging from the trees and you can imagine the snakes and crocs waiting.
We knew there wasn't many hotels in the area only beach resorts and after some small discussion booked into Marriott Beach resort V expensive but very nice. Nice!!! it was amazing we should stay longer.

One benefit was the room had a bath so the bike pants got a good wash and hung out to dry.
Although this made us realise how bad the rest of our gear was. Laundry needed.
Over indulged on the amazing buffet and alcohol which is why I'm writing this at 4:30 am.

BIKE STUFF
Bike clocked over 75000
Rear bearing seal still leaking, will try and get it fixed in Panama City
