A day of mixed scenery

Popayan, Cauca department, Colombia
Breakfast on the patio in the sunshine over looking the lake what a lovely start to the day.

Ride from darien lago calima was pretty but mainly in the valley between the two mountain ranges. Very agricultural most of the trucks and small vehicle were overloaded with something from the fields.

We rode through Cali but we're glad we had decided to continue, it is a messy town which is smart in places and worse than a dump in others.

The rain started about 10 miles from the end of our journey we nearly skirted round in but no such luck. Monsoon rains again made riding treacherous. The first hotel we get to was full. We are soaked through again and cold fortunately the receptionist was happy to ring through and find something else. By the time we have something the water is running through the neck of my jacket down my back into my boots.

San Martin was only a mile down the road we check in as the rain slows. It's a smart business hotel as I wait to provide all the info ID etc needed for a Colombian hotel I leave a huge puddle on the tiled floor.

The storm still raging we have dinner early in the hotel. 11pm the storm has not abate incredible bolts of lightening and thunderclaps which are making the glass rattle.
