Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador
Short journey today which just as well has it has taken us over an hour to sort a hotel eventually we ask the reception to ring a few. A choice finally made we are on our way to Quito capital city of Ecuador.

We are not riding for long before the rain starts fortunately it does not last long although it remains grey. Quito is a huge city which is spread along the valley floor then like a wave it spills over the edge.

On the way into the city we cross the equator, as not greeted by any of the expected rituals we carry on stopping at the equator monument.

Technology now shows the monument is about a 100 yards in the wrong place.

Never mind it was quite a party place with local Ecuadorian bands playing in a central theatre and elderly couples dancing. and people tucking into local delicacy Cuy (Guinie Pig).

Make it to our hotel late afternoon typical business hotel but a good base to explore from.
