Into Lima

Miraflores, Lima, Peru
Left hotel in damp gear from last nights rain, unfortunately still grey and cloudy and after the usual GPS phaffing about we left the town and started climbing over the pass. At about 1200ft stopped to photo the mountain range as clouds cleared briefly. It was 11C.
First time we have seen snow since leaving the U.S.
Crossed the pass at 13500 FT and started long descent to sea level.

Every town has its team of attack dogs who ambush you as you ride through and chase you through the village, they have a great time.

The plan was to stay at Huacho, we had booked ahead and for once arrived early at 4pm. after some delay Tracy and Marion informed us we couldn't check in until 8pm because the hotel was being fumigated.
We decided to move on as there were no hotel between Huacho and Lima we headed for Lima.
Back onto the PanAmerican across the desert for a 60 mile dash before the sun want down. We encounter the infamous wind for the first time. Us along with the sand are been blown sideways across the carriageway.

The sunset was amazing as we travelled through the dunes but once again we entered a major city in the dark. The GPS were not picking up the address of the hotel only the region. The traffic was crazy the taxi drivers and bus drivers cutting us up at every opportunity after an hour of chaos and amazing bit of map reading by Tracy we located the hotel and pulled into the entrance to the Hilton, covered in mud. As all good 5 star accommodation should do they just took our credit card and handed over the room key. No "pretty woman" moment here. It had been a bit of a day so we chose to eat in the hotel can not bring our selves to make the effort to go out. It's a great restaurant with a continual flow of alcohol just what we all needed.
