Nasca, Ica, Peru
Not many photos sorry corrupted SD card thanks to new version of iPhoto

Run through the desert on the Pan Am was a welcome change from the gravel and mud previously. Getting out of Lima was marginally better than arriving.

Arrived Nasca very late afternoon great light for photos, if you don't fancy a flight there are a couple of observation towers for a small fee we went up. First reaction about the lines they are very small and a bit unremarkable. May be if you see them from 5000ft they have the wow factor but I'm not sure. It was very windy even I did not feel too safe on the tower as the sun set we made a haste retreat.

Nasca Facts - spread over 310 sq mi of arid, rock-strewn plain in the Pampa Colorada Red Plain, the Nazca Lines are one of the world’s great archaeological mysteries. Comprising over 800 straight lines, 300 geometric figures (geoglyphs) and 70 animal and plant drawings, the lines are almost imperceptible on the ground which we found. From above, they are supposed to form a striking network of stylized figures and channels, many of which radiate from a central axis. The lines were made by the simple process of removing the dark sun-baked stones from the surface of the desert soil below. The designs represent animals, including a huge lizard, a monkey and a condor with a 426ft wingspan. There's also a hummingbird, spider and an intriguing owl-headed person on a hillside, popularly referred to as an astronaut because of its goldfish-bowl shaped head.
