Dakar

Iquique, Tarapacá, Chile
It's difficult to get clear information on where the Dakar is coming into town so we download some coordinates from the Dakar website and ride out to them.
On the edge of town we find a dirt track and some activity we ride for a couple of miles and find things being set up for tomorrow's stage. We then ride back into town and 20 kls along the coast road to the bivouac where the support crews will stay for the rest day.

Unfortunately the stage will not finish with the huge descent down the dune this will be on Monday, we leave Sunday, bugger!

Getting out to the special stage tomorrow across the sandy roads two up we decide to use a taxi to save the ailing bikes, the ladies heart attacks, and our embarrassment if we drop the bikes in front of the locals who just seem to skim over the soft sand.

The taxi driver who takes us to town that night speaks perfect English and agrees to pick us up in the morning and take us.
