Dakar rest day at the Bivouac

Iquique, Tarapacá, Chile
We decide to try and blag our way into the bivouac so got onto the bike and rode the 20klm out of town.

On our way we see a stranded bike and trying to use my new resolution to reciprocate the help we have received only yesterday i stop to see if i can help. He has a puncture so using my pump we try and inflate it but to no avail, its a tubed tyre so he decides to call for a truck. OH well its the thought that counts.

We arrived at the Bivouac but security was really tight, Tracy managed to slip in while I was pleading with the security guy but came out again when I was told to bugger off ( in French )

Met a couple of guys from Yorkshire on Honda 450s who also failed to get in.

We could see a lot of activity through the fence and the scenery and dunes were spectacular so we bummed around for a couple of hours then rode back to hotel.

Tomorrow the trucks will be ploughing down this huge dune, its incredible they can do it, may stick around to see them.
