Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina
Early ferry crossing to the land of fire.

Not much fire just sand, we follow the coast for sometime on a gravel road which is a bit wearing. At least the odd seal and we are sure a whale playing in the kelp forests broke the monotony.
Tom as usual Lindsay romped of travelling at least 10k per hour faster on gravel than i feel happy with, fortunately they stop every 20 k and let us catch up. must practise more.

As the road headed in land the traffic got busier trucks and lorries some going so fast huge plumes of dust rise up behind them which we able to ride through. We cross the border back in to Argentina near San Sebastian all ok this time and very fast as we sneaked in before a bus load of hikers.

Rio Grande is that next town the weather has changed it is now quite grey and cold, we stop at a gas station to refuel warm up and check out our accomodation options. We are recommended 2 hotels close by. One was full apart from a suite the other we could not find. After buggering about for over an hour looking at dodgy hotel and camp sites we decide to push on to Ushuaia.

This meant a late arrival and we all had had enough. Its about 180 kilometres the sun was shining but it was cold. The light was with us as almost the land of the midnight sun. Strange that we had experienced this in Alaska a few months ago.

The end of the road we have ridded form Alaska to Ushuaia top to bottom.

We find our Hotel in the dark (GPS has its uses) too cold to celebrate yet we jump into a shower, the restaurant has closed as its after 9pm so we get a taxi into town for a beer and a steak, we collapse into bed totally knacked, too tired to even stay up late and celebrate.

It will have to wait to tomorrow
