Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

Really leisurely start, Olmu and Fernando (previously met on the road in Peru) were coming to meet us for breakfast we could not get going. We all decided to go into town, we stop once more at the Ushuaia sign for more photos it is slowly sinking in that we have made it.

Whist here another couple of riders appear Lorenzo 25 years old from Italy riding an African Twin the same age. He is a friend of Fernando and typically bloody Italian cool and good looking. Then anther guy pulls into the car park , Paul a very loud Brit, who seems like hasn't spoken to anyone in a while and really wants to talk. Coffee and croissants at the Andino Restaurant we start finding out more about Olmu and Fernando journey they started the opposite way through the Stan's to Oz camping all the time amazing.

The weather is forecast to get worse tomorrow so we decide to head North, next stop Rio Grande. We all finally say our farewells and go our different directions ours battling the wind again.

Not able to make a reservation anywhere, I'm feeling a bit rough a cold or allergy I'm not sure nose and eyes streaming. I really did not fancy riding any where let alone Rio grande.

We arrive having ridden again a buffeting 45 degrees all day there had been the mention of a camp site which we went in search for. Far out on the peninsular in what looked like the most wind swept run down part of town we found a small painted sign "camping" on the side wall of a boarded up house, Dumped cars and Litter everywhere it did not take even a conversation to agree to move on.

We next tried a guest house which had a small apartment with 2 rooms not very clean but it was cheap and secureish parking. Opposite was the casino which we gad been in before. We asked if it had any rooms which the receptionist said she would check as we are doing this a guy asks us in English if we need help, we explain he speaks straight away to the receptionist and all of a sudden we have 2 rooms at $AR 600 brilliant as this was $AR 350 cheaper than a few days ago.

It turns out that he is driving a support truck for 10 riders making their way up from Ushuaia who we meet in the bar later and end up going to dinner with and Marian hit the whiskeys. very interesting group we exchange email addresses and realize we must get stickers.
