Montevideo, Departamento de Montevideo, Uruguay
New country today in the search of US $ as all bike shipping costs and flights need to be paid in U.S. We were unable to get any via normal means ie banks and ATMs we have come to Uruguay hoping to fair a bit better.

12.15 ferry then a coach to Montevideo. Toms second bus in 2 days. Crossing was good a couple of hours not too rocky considering the weather and wind. Then a bus to Montevideo surroundings very agricultural not a lot to see and very flat, it took a couple of hours but traffic good arrived about 5 pm. It is cold and grey which is a shame as we have booked a hotel by the sea.
At the coach station we thought we would give the ATMs a try after a few attempts we get our first $ dollars.

Hotel a bit further out than thought and not the beach hotel we were expecting. Although situated right on the waters edge it is the river plata and not the sea. A sort of board walk has been built along the river which runs for miles seems to be really popular in the evenings with people keeping fit. This typical best western is nicely furnished in a French Chateaux style. There are plenty of restaurants near by, great meal. Lamb best yet.

Next challenge was getting a bill tax free if you use visa they deduct the tax. Worth it.
