The Alpine Road

Myrtleford, Victoria, Australia
Short day but lovely ride although cold 9 degrees at the top the pass and we got rained on. fortunately not for long.

The Great Alpine Road winds through mountains, valleys and forests, and past rivers, vineyards and farms. It is 303 km (188 mi) long. At the top Mount Hotham it reaches a height of 1,840metres (6,040 ft). As we ride down to the valley we are flagged down by a driver in a car pointing at something running across the road dog I thought a pretty red Alsatian. (Later we found out it was a dingo)

Coffee stop to warm up we meet these guys who offer much advise about where to go, including Tasmania, this will have to go on the list for next time. Heading south at the moment doesn't appeal.

We cross Dinner Plain alpine resort the weather closes in the temperature drops to 9degrees we go through, the historic gold rush township of Omeo, and Bright really glad once we drop back down into the valley.
