Goodbye once again, off to Heartbreak hotel

Mcarthur, Northern Territory, Australia
We leave Katherine after saying our goodbyes to Lindsay and Marian. They are heading west to Perth, we are heading east to Townsville.
We have to go back away south along the Stewart highway to Daly waters before our turn off to the Carpentaria highway.
This is a mainly a single sealed carriageway with an addition gravel track either side, great riding in the middle of nowhere,  just move over onto the gravel as soon as you see a road train as they travel at speed and cannot and do not slow down or move over.   This is the main reason why the roadsides are littered with dead kangaroos and occasional cows.

After 267km the Carpentaria Hwy meets the sealed Tablelands Hwy at Cape Crawford. At this intersection is the famous Heartbreak Hotel. There are a couple of options for accommodation cabins a bit pricy, motel rooms no ensuite. There is a restaurant with a traditional pub we got a beer and spent some time on the verandah chilling after a very hot days ride.
We choose a cabin looked brand new a portacabin with plumbing but has aircon and its clean.

Dinner in the main building which serves as a bar and shop as well. The staff are all English or Irish said they had been there a few years which seems incredible in a place back of no where.

Really good place to get off the main beaten track and see the outback.
