The 3 C's

Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia
Grass grass and more grass we even started to talk about the herds of cows (1) to break the monotony. Then we were saved by a herd of wild camels (2) munching the grass along side the railway tracks. We noticed the odd kangaroo (3) hopping about in the bush fortunately none on the road. Thank goodness for the few road houses we stopped at, particularly for the 3 eggs on toast for Tom.

Today was a bit of an epic drive starting at 8.30am finished at 6pm. Total mileage 410 fortunatley not too hot 31C most of the way.

Ride interspersed with bad smells every few kilometres which meant another dead kangaroo or cow hit by a road train. These guys don't stop or cannot stop for anything, they are 53 metres long with two attached trailers, often carrying cows. When they go past you have to get as far over as you can as the bow wave hits you.

Finding a hotel was a challenge 1st they looked grotty then full at last recommended a motel which we got the last room.

Dinner was next door in another motel food ok but expensive.
