More preparation ...

Bedford, England, United Kingdom
It was my turn to put some mileage on the car today. Collected it from Martin's house, and drove around to see how it went. Then I went over to St Neots to collect Brendan to give him the chance of a drive in THE CAR! He's been looking forward to taking part in the great adventure, so he got to go in it. Drove around for about 60 miles in all, then dropped him off in Bedford and returned the car to Martin, where we spent some time in fitting internal fittings - a box over the battery, a shelf over the spare wheel, and then Martin cut away part of the superstructure in oredr to fit the container to hold the oil supply.
The car handles like noting I've ever driven in my life. The gearbox, which we are assured is in tip top condition, is as heavy as lead. Every gear change requires every ounce of strength you have. Luckily the gear lever is long, so there is a good leverage, but it is tiring. I guess I've spent too much time recently driving cars with power this and power that - the Morris has no power except in the engine. With 3.5 litres, it looks like it could pull an ox. Not that we've done any effort work in it yet, we're still running it in. Not even had its first service yet, so we have to put 500 miles on before Monday.
