Day 2

Poitiers, Poitou-Charentes, France
Left Abbeville early, and set off.
Went to a supermarket and bought a map and some provisions. The Garmin isnt doing what its paid to do, and the atlas we had is so out of date that its useless.
Uneventful days driving, apart from ending up driving in the dark. But thats not unexpected as it is winter and the days are short.

Got to Poitiers and checked the oil. It had quite a lot of oil around the engine, so we were a bit concerned. In fact it had gone right down to minimum, so we cleaned it all up and topped up with 2 litres of oil. Checked it all over and discovered that one of the pipes feeding the rocker cover was loose, and it started dripping oil immediately we started the car. Tightened it up, it had been almost hand tight, so that should resolve the problem.

Stayed at Etap hotel. Bit more expensive than the F1, but its a much nicer hotel. Went to the Ibis hotel next door for dinner, 15% discount for Etap residents. Had a pleasant enough meal, but I chose the local sausage, which was a bit too fatty, and didnt enjoy it at all. Ice cream was great, really chocolatey.
Downloaded the France map again from the internet, as it had really been a problem, not of any use at all. At least we had the paper map today though!
