Another long day

Toledo, Castile-La Mancha, Spain and Canary Islands
After a breakfast of madelaine and coffee (the hostels exell on everything except breakfasts) we paced up to set off. Checked oil, water and wheel nuts. However, for the first time, the car wouldnt start. We stripped it down, checked the coil, spartplugs, fuel and all. Added to our problems it was a bitterly cold day. At the altitude we were, there was still snow onthe ground, although we'd left the snow behind yesterday, and travelled in comparative warmth. Evenyually Martin was looking into the carburettors, while I pressed the starter, and she fired! So problem overcome even though we aren't totally sure of what it was.
Had a good run, all day, spending some time on minor roads, and some on motorways. Some great scenery, although as we disciovered in USA, photos dont seem to do it any justice.
Eventually got to Madrid, and the traffic was HEAVY. Why do we always manage to get to big cities at rush hour? Looking at the map there are loads of ring roads, so we wouldnt have had a clue which one we were on, but the Garmin, which had been so criticised by us both previously, really shone. I keyed in where we wanted to go, and the directions were perfect.Without it we would still be driving round in circles.
Eventually got to Toledo, where we decided to spend the night, having gone a bit further than planned. Chose another hostal, as the previous one was good value. This one, too is good value, although the meal wasnt included (room was cheaper so cant complain) and the meal at the attached restaurant wasnt anywhere near as good as last night.
