The aim of the journey

Mijas, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands
Set off early. Breakfast not included so we decided to get going and break along the way. Car didnt start at first, we were just getting to be worried that we'd have a repeat of yesterday, when she fired, and eventually started OK. A relief.
Set off on the journey, and decided to follow the motorway down rather than the more interesting route via Cuidad Real . That would have gone more thru the mountains, which was a good reason for choosing the route we did, and also because it was through the mountains, it wasnt any shorter, which was a surprise.
Broke for breakfast at a restaurant along the way, had a coffee and a chocolate croissant. Got on with driving, through some very attractive countryside. Took a few photos, but no expectation of them coming out.
Stopped for lunch, had a salad and a coffee, got a huge bill. E7.50 for as salad, which had nothing special in it at all. Obviously they take advantage of people they never expect to see again. They'll never see us.
Came down into Malaga area, worked out a route to get to Heather's without going along the southern coastal motorway, which I remembered as being hectic. However, the route we wanted to use apparently has part closed off, so we had to backtrack and use the route not of choice. All the time it was RAINING, and the windscreeper on my side doesnt work, so I could see almost nothing. Eventually came off on the road to Mijas, which Martin didnt think was the right one, so we phoned in and Ed was dispatched to collect us . While we were waiting, I managed to have a migraine. Short but hard. We followed Ed back to Heather's place, during which I managed 2 more migraines, so by the time we got there I was feeling pretty ropy, although the greeting from family was welcomed.
Heather has a great place, well as far as I can see at night! She had some friends around to greet us, so it was a really warm welcome, with drinks and snacks. Then the friends went and we all sat down to a stir fry supper. Really made to feel welcome.
Now its down to the lower part of her villa, where we have a room.
Great to have arrived, its been a long journey. Half way!

358 miles, 50.1 max speed, 36.7 av speed.

Spent the time at Heathers's - great time, just walking, going to Mijas, Ronda and Malaga. Really good to be with them all relaxing.
