Pamplona, Navarra, Spain and Canary Islands
Set off early to get a good run today, so we didn't have breakfast until we stopped for coffee and toasted roll with marmalade. Continued on the run northwards the same route as we had taken south a week ago. Apart from going a bit further into Madrid than last time. The satnav said to exit on the A5 but the overhead gantry said the A5 went straight on. However, the problem quickly resolved itself and we saw a bit more of Madrid than just the ring road. Not that you could say we saw any of the sights though.
Then continuing northwards we stopped and had lunch at a roadside cafeteria, and pushed on to Pamplona where we are stopped for the night in a very grand old hotel. Dont think there are any other guests tonight, but the lady assured us that the dining room opens at 8.30, and there are indications that its an impressive place when it is open, so lets just wait and see. The carpets and decorations are all 100 years old, the electricity system only half works, really thew sort of thing people paid money for 100 years ago.

Yet again there's no wifi, its amazing just how little of our journey has been covered. You think that Europe is well sorted, but that's not the case. Would have liked to try and download a decent France map for the Garmin, but that's now unlikely.

Went down for dinner after a shower, and had quite a pleasant meal but absolutely no choice except for pudding. Two others in the dining room, don't think they said a word between them all evening. Hotelier discussed breakfast, 8 o'clock. We said we wanted earlier than that, agreed that we'd skip breakfast and go. So he brought the bill so we could settle this evening. E86!!! So the room is E50, for a plain ordinary room, convection heater in it as its so cold. Meal is E36. Absolutely nothing special here. I reckon we had far better value in the hostals we stayed at. We'll know for next time. Oh! this is the last night in Spain, there wont be a next time!
