Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
After a short night of sleep we got going early today getting in line for our ferry to Victoria. Car and all. After about an hour and a half ferry ride we were the first ones off the ferry and on our way. We first traveled to Sidney by the Sea to look around a little before going to the Butterfly Garden in Brentwood Bay. The butterfly garden was very nice with many different types of butterflies, moths and plants represented. After spending over an hour enjoying the butterflies it was on to the Butchart Gardens. I remembered going here as a child and have talked about it many times with Fred telling him he had to go there some day, today was finally the day. It was a beautiful as I remembered with a large variety of color and type of flowers to enjoy. We spent 3 to 4 hours wandering liesurely through the many gardens with the Sunken Gardens being my favorite and the one I remember most from my childhood. We ended the evening with dinner at the Dining Room Restaurant, formerly the Butchart family home, where we enjoyed delicioius meals and a terrific view of the garden as we were seated on the porch. After dinner we wandered slowly back to our car though some of the key areas of the gardens and then headed to our hotel to do a little luggage rearranging as we fly to Anchorage on Thursday and didn't want to deal with it tomorrow night.
