Capilano in Vancouver

Vancouver, Washington, United States
Today started with another ferry ride this time from Victoria to Vancouver. Once we arrived in Vancouver we headed for Capilano, a rainforest that has been made into an interactive learning park. It was suppose to take us about 1 hour to get there but because there were acciedents on 2 of the 3 bridges that crossed one of the inlets into Vancouver, it took us about 3 hours to get there. We spent a lot of time listening to traffic reports and trying to find our way to the alternate routes suggested. We finally found a group of cars that seemed to know what they were doing so we followed them to get out of the traffic mess. At one point on this adventure we were led through a large culvert oon a dirt path that was just big enough for cars to pass through. We finally found our way and had a great afternoon at Capilano. This park was featured briefly during the Olympics because of the large suspension bridge and the treetops adventure which is a group of 7 smaller suspension bridges that are high in the treetops. This was a fun and different way to experience a rain forest. On our way to find our hotel we drove through the Gastown section of Vancouver where we saw the famous gas run clock. Then it was on back on the way to our hotel which was actually part of the airport. We could leave our room and go to the lobby of the hotel take the escalator down one story and be in the airport check-in and terminal area. After checking into the hotel we went to a Chinese Restaurant for dinner which was very authintic as the oriental population is quite large in Vancouver. Then we left our car in the long term parking lot for a well deserved rest and took the shuttle back to the airport/hotel.
