Skagway, Alaska, United States
Today we stopped at the first port of our cruise, Skagway. It is a very small town mostly still there because of the tourist, its population is 800. Here we took a rafting float trip through an eagle preserve where we got to see many bald eagles, some very close. At one point our raft got stuck on a sandbar and I was asked to get out of the raft while our guide freed us from the sandbar. The whole time we were stuck everyone else in the raft got to watch an eagle up close while I stood in the water with my back to it as I didn't want to go swimming. In all we saw 15 to 20 eagles and learning about the area and some of its history. We also did some window shopping in Skagway and took a walking history tour of the town.
