Last day in UK

London, England, United Kingdom
We took our time in the morning, packing, tidying and doing some washing. We spread the weight evenly we hoped amongst our 4 bags, put clothing in one case for the US and had a piece of hand luggage with what we would need in London. As it was about 12.30pm when we left we just put in London and headed south on the motorways.

We stopped once for a late lunch and also found a cache in the area . We found just one other and then headed for London again, arriving about 5pm as we had hoped. Peter, the landlord was there when we arrived and was happy for us to leave all our luggage in a downstairs room. We went up to the flat and were making a cuppa when both Margaret and Don arrived. I had been told Don was on a late train so was surprised but the message meant he would be leaving on a late train.

Their main news was no news. Jenni was expected to have given them their first grandchild during the day but he hadn't arrived. We sat and talked for an hour as we all listened out for the phone. Then John and I took Don to Euston station. He was surprised at how busy the road was – it took us 40 minutes to get there but only 20 minutes to get back. When we returned there was still no news so Margaret made tea for us and restricted her wine as she was hoping to need to drive soon. Bed time and no news so we went to bed with various alarms set for 6am.
