Rolling into Normandy

Saint-Sauveur-de-Pierrepont, Normandy, France
We had far too much offered for breakfast, and Nelly even packed up the extra pastries, bread and cheese for our journey, and Bernard wished us safe travels.
It was going to be a long drive and proved to be longer, as there was a car crash somewhere on the road ahead of us.
We stopped only twice on the way. Once was a bit off the motorway to get fuel, and the second time was at a small village called Saint-Saens for lunch.
Saint Saens was a nice bonus on the way. It was not chosen for a cache but because it was a small distance from the motorway, and we would be there about 1.30pm. I then read about it and found it was an historic small town that was pretty, and famed for cabbages!!
We parked and found a restaurant. The initial idea was a light lunch, but the lunch special was good value, and once we worked out what the items were, this was what we opted for. John went back to the car while I had my dessert and popped into the church, and then we were back on the road. I was able to get Google Maps to take us right to the house, although the 2 Tomtoms were struggling. We had not seen a lot of supermarkets, so put in a route that took us to an ‘Aldi’ on the way, and stocked up
We were about to greet Alex and Dave with Bonjour until we heard their clear English accents. They bought a rundown building and lived in one part, with only basic facilities, until they had renovated it. They then renovated the other part, and the first part is the site we have booked. It is a full house, but as it is in the country it is priced accordingly. In fact, it is very ‘country’, being about 15 minutes from the nearest town, and the final part to get here was 2.2km on a very minor road to a turn off to a dead end road where we are staying. It is lovely and peaceful to stay in, but a car is essential. Katherine is pleased to have her own room again, as it has three bedrooms. The food supplies were geared to having a deli tea again which we did outside on our picnic table. There is a full kitchen, very well equipped, and a huge backyard which we heard had been totally overgrown when they bought it. It was previously full of brambles, and a full day of work managed to clear only about a couple of square metres of it. They then decided to get some heavy equipment in and now they have at least 2 acres of lawn.
