Highlight. Garage for lunch
We had a lazy start to the day, with a late breakfast followed
by a sit by the pool, and a swim for John and Katherine. I rang Irene on Skype
and had a catch up with her.
Then we had time to read, blog and catch up on
rest. John also found how to run the music in the car. It comes with a full
manual in French, but there is a lot on-line as well. We also sorted out a good
way for Katherine to be able visit friends in Basel once we reach Germany.
Just after 1pm we went to the local garage for lunch. This is a
favourite for truckies and bikies and was very busy. There was a queue, and we
had a wait before we could be seated. It was a full meal for lunch, with pasta, secondi and then coffee and cake. Jane collected water for us from the dispenser. They had both still and sparkling on tap. We also had zero food mile wine. The owners make their own. When we left we bought a cask of it for our planned pizza evening tomorrow
While Jane and Ian sorted more boxes for their move back to
London, we went to Poggio Cupro, the nearby village to find a cache and have a wander.
I read later that the castle here has a church which is one of the places the Holy Grail is said to be hidden. We went through a gate with a 15th century fresco and also enjoyed views of the area.
We
had intended to have a longer drive to explore more of the area but, sadly, the
weather started to pack up so our drive was cut short. It was raining when we drove back to our temporary home.
We headed back for a
quiet time and light tea. The forecast is also poor for tomorrow but we still hope to go to
San Marino. It seems odd that we had virtually no rain in London but it is
making up for it here.
We are all feeling quite relaxed and
recharged. We took a few photos of our apartment at Jane and Ian's. Katherine has her own bedroom and ensuite and we have a kitchen dining room of our own.
