Sorting John’s Phone.
We
‘cooked’ our breadrolls and other stuff and had breakfast in-house before heading
to Meersburg. I had found a parking area that proved to be basically empty, as
it is not yet the tourist season, and we walked into a familiar area. The aim
for the day was a brief look at Meersburg and Konstanz while trying to replace John’s
phone. I had checked and found Vodafone Konstanz had a good reputation so that
was my suggested focus. He was hoping Katherine’s German would be of help.
We
walked through Meersburg taking photos, but soon headed for the ferry to
Konstanz. We did recognise a number of places and thought often of John’s Mum
as there were a lot of miniature shops here. We had coffee first and met one of
the few unfriendly people we had dealt with to date who was serving.
The
sun was coming out as we crossed on the ferry to Konstanz. I spotted an area to
walk as a backup if we had enough of the main town area.
To
cut the story short, the man in Vodafone was helpful, Katherine’s German was
not needed and John now has a flash Galaxy S8+ which he spent a lot of the day
setting up.
We
had a lovely lunch while the apps on his phone were being sorted and then did
my suggested walk. It took us over a bridge to a walkway/cycleway area around
the side of the lake. Katherine did prefer Lake Garda, but the weather here did
improve as we walked and we did like a leg stretch as none of us are really
shoppers. There were some beautiful lakeside houses with great views of the
lake. Katherine was also attracted to the many ducklings we saw.
Back
in Meersburg, we failed to find a cache as reception was erratic, and then we headed
for the car and back to the AirBnB, via the supermarket we found yesterday. We
met Monika (the owner) who we found lives downstairs who told us of a local
wine, made just up the road. The winery was closed, but maybe we can find some
soon at a garage or supermarket. Then John sorted his phone and I caught up on
the blog before we had a snack tea. So it was not so much a ‘tourist’ day but a
‘sort-out-loose-ends’ day.
