At sea at last

John has been hanging out for today and tomorrow as he is looking forward to a quiet time. Today is the day we join the cruise and tomorrow is an at sea day. I will cope!!
We repacked and left a very heavy bag with our airBNB hosts. It just shows how many warm clothes we had with us that have hardly been worn. We then went for a walk to get Panadol for John, to check out the metro station for later today (there was a lift) and find a cache. Back in the room, we uploaded the last blog entry and had a quick farewell then headed back to the metro.
John had loaded the travel app for Copenhagen and it worked a treat. He paid on line for tickets and we ‘metroed’ 1 stop then walked to the bus. We just missed one but ended up having a chat to an Australian couple who were heading also for this ship. They had just stayed in Iceland which they were a little disappointed in, and the temperature had been 11 degrees. I think John envied that. They told us about the check-in they had on a previous cruise that took 3 hours… we told them to expect this one to be easier.
The bus took us to within a 2-minute walk to the check-in and we were on board within 10 minutes. We were sent up to the Lido deck for welcome food and sat with Barbara, a woman from Florida ex New York, who shared her life history with us.
Then I was on a mission. Within 20 minutes I had a hair appointment for 5pm today and had booked the one extra excursion I had decided was worthwhile.
The next half hour was spent looking at an email from Anna Gully about a possible river cruise next year, while we still had mobile data access on the phones. It was suddenly urgent if we wanted a deal. It does give us something to talk about tomorrow!!!
I had my hair done while the sail-away was happening. It was great as I saw the amazing bridge we were passing from a range of angles, and the hair stylist also told me that there was a tunnel under the water at the end of the spot it finished at, and we were close enough to see cars ‘disappearing’.
We went down for dinner and opted to join others in order to get a table quickly. We sat with a couple from Taupo/Sunshine Coast and a couple from Australia. They were easy to talk to and we all have travel as a common interest. The NZ couple are going to Namibia after the cruise for a self-drive trip. The man from Sydney reminded us of Pete Gillin as he ordered 2 mains and an extra bit on his dessert and yet was the most slender of us all at the table. His wife reckons the food disappears out his feet. We were a bit late to the preview program at the entertainment area but have an idea of a show we may go to, and one we won’t. Then it was bed time and our clocks go forward 1-hour tomorrow. The downside of using my fitbit as a watch is that it is linked to my phone clock, and with no reception I could not easily change it, so my watch didn’t go forward.
