Well, this
is our first trip to explore new destinations in a while, since Covid shut
things down a couple of years ago. We
have travelled to a couple of our favourite Caribbean destinations, Belize and
Bequia, since then, but this will be our first time getting back to exploring completely
new places. For those who don’t know,
Carol and I are a mid-60’s couple who have a shared passion for travel. For this trip, we are not being overly
aggressive as far as bouncing around between different locations. We will base ourselves in 4 places over the
course of our 32 days there: Dubrovnik,
Split, Zadar and then Zagreb, travelling by bus between locations. We will do
lots of day-trips to other towns, villages and islands, including, hopefully,
excursions into Montenegro and Bosnia.
We are flying Air Transat non-stop to Zagreb from Toronto and then
immediately (hopefully!) boarding a Croatian Airlines flight to Dubrovnik, which will be our
first base. I hope the airlines and
airports cooperate and the travel is not too chaotic! Sitting in Terminal 3 at Pearson Airport in
Toronto now at Caplansky's Deli, waiting to board. Check-in and security were a breeze, so we have lots of time to kill!
(Oh, and for those who might want a somewhat different perspective of our trip--likely with way better photos, Carol will be doing her own blog at: http://v2.travelark.org/travel-blog/carolrichardson/13)
