A Change in the Weather and Some...Golf

Alykes, Greece
So, they had told us that the weather would change on Sunday, with high winds coming up, and that's why we had to do our boat trip by Saturday, and they were right.  Sunday morning the waves were crashing on the beach and there were whitecaps out the water, which had been like glass since we arrived.  We took a brief walk down to check out the beach and then went up a side street that we hadn't explored before, but we had seen lots of people walking along into town.  There were, in fact, quite a few apartment complexes and small hotels up the street, and some tavernas and bars, one of which, the Iris Bar, caught our attention for its very British pub look and its 2 18-hole mini-golf courses.  We didn't go in on this day, but made a note to go back another day.  We wandered back down to the beach and, despite the winds, it was still sunny and quite hot, so we got some sunbeds and hung out for a few hours at Asteria Taverna and lunched on some tzatziki, hummus and dolmadakia--very tasty.  Home for a bit and then out for dinner at Nostos, on the "main drag" just down the street from us.
Monday morning, the winds were blowing even harder, it seemed, and it was considerably cooler, particularly on the beach.  So, we headed up to Iris Bar to play some mini-golf.  Off the beach and out of the wind, it was much more pleasant, and the mini-golf, though somewhat frustrating, was a fun way to kill and hour or so.  Then a light lunch of 2 very different feta cheese dishes at Fidelios, right next door to Nostos, and home to chill for the afternoon, before heading out searching for pasta for dinner.  Well, lots of places are closing down now for the season, and it was Monday so some others weren't open, so we ended up going back again to Fidelios for some very good salmon pastas.
Tuesday, being gluttons for punishment, we went back for some more mini-golf (hey, 2nd round was half-off).  Then, being our last full day in Greece, and with the wind having died down a bit, we found a somewhat sheltered pair of sunbeds on the  beach at Porto Paradiso, after some really good Pita Gyros, and had a very pleasant few hours before heading home to start sorting and packing.  One final Greek dinner at Nostos, mixed souvlaki for me and a beef in tomato sauce dish for Carol, while watching the horse-draw carriages go back and forth along the road to Alykanas. Tomorrow, a brief stop in Bari before our 6am flight home on Thursday.
