Easing into Island Mode

Caye Caulker, Belize, Belize
So, where was I? Oh yeah, first night, Wednesday, we headed out to find some dinner. Ended up going to Bambooze, on Front street. Nice location. Food was so-so. We both had snapper, me creole and Carol coconut curry. They forgot to put the rice on the plates when they first brought it and it wasn't very warm. The sauces were quite tasty, though. Then an early night.
Next morning, up at 7 and relax with coffee, tea and Cake Man's oatmeal cookies, which were more like oatmeal cake. (Well, he is the CAKE Man, not the Cookie Man).

Then out for a wander. Checked out snorkeling trips along the way and then headed to the Split, which is a channel that separates the inhabited south half of CC from the uninhabited north. Sad to say that the Lazy Lizard, the iconic bar located at the split is closed as a result of an ownership/landlord & tenant dispute.
People still go and hang out on the property though--just means you have to walk about 50 yards back onto Front Street to the first bar to get drinks. We hung out for a while and went for a swim. Then out to find some lunch. Ended up having pork sandwiches at La Cubana, which were tasty but a little bland.
Then time for a wander over to the "back" side of the island, take a few more photos, pick up a few more things at one of the "supermarkets" and stroll home for a nap. We had a quiet evening. Carol cooked up some pasta with Italian sausages & tomatoes and we actually watched some TV--who knew that they would get CTV Montreal here(among their 70 channels)?   Looks like another gorgeous day today. We are going to get on our bikes and do some serious exploring today.
