Hangin' out in San Ignacio

San Ignacio, Cayo, Belize
Well we've gotten settled in at our little cabana in the jungle.

We got up on Thursday and got things straightened out with the caretaker, packed up a couple of loads of laundry to take across the street to the "service" and then wandered into town and got our "turbo stick" activated for internet at "home". Strolled around town a bit and had a nice lunch at Tandoor restaurant on Burns street, the main tourist drag in SI.    Then we hiked up the hill to see Cahal Pech, which is the local Mayan ruin, just about a 30 minute walk from the centre of town. It was a really great experience. You can just wander around and climb all over the ruins and we were absolutely the only 2 people there, so it was really special. I don't think we will get the same experience when we go to Tikal, where we are heading tomorrow!
We took a shortcut home, picked up our laundry, got somewhat cleaned up and headed into town for some great fish dinners at Erva's. We wanted to try to go on a cave tour, to Barton Creek, today but when we checked with Pacz tours they said that none of the cave tours were going the past couple of days and probably wouldn't be going today. Did I mention that it has been raining heavily all night since before we got here. It stops during the day (at around 10:00) but starts up again around sunset. The weather forecast says that this supposed to change starting today and it looks like it might. Today we'll check out the Iguana Conservation Project and tomorrow off to Tikal, Guatemala.
