Chillin' in Placencia

Placencia, Stann Creek, Belize

So we've just been enjoying hanging out in Placencia for the last few days. It's a great little village. Being right on the beach is fabulous but it has been pretty windy most of the time since we got here, and there has been some rain, mostly at night. We have been trying to get out for a snorkeling trip to Silk Cayes, out on the Barrier Reef, but the winds have made that impossible so far. Looks like tomorrow should be calmer, so hopefully we get out then. It's still wonderfully warm, anyway.
Sunday was Carol's birthday so we went out for a tremendous meal at Rumfish y Vino, one of a number of great restaurants in the village. Yesterday we went for a long walk up past the airport, just to see what is around. There are a few high-end resorts scattered along this end of the peninsula (I gather that there are more further up past the airport) and there are a lot of luxury homes scattered around, but also a ton of little cottages like ours, and lots of choices for food. It would be really easy to do an extended stay here!
