A day in St. Andrews

Last day in Scotland--flying to Dublin tomorrow. We drove back up the coast for a day in St. Andrews. Three weeks from today the 144th Open Championship will conclude on the Old Course.  A tradition on the Old Course is that anyone can come out for a walk on the course on Sundays and, even as they are preparing for the Open, we were still able to walk all 18 holes. It goes a lot faster when you don't have to hit the ball! It turned into a glorious day after a lot of rain overnight. Have I mentioned how crappy the weather has been here before the last 2 days?! We have actually been very luck to get stuff done between the rains, but until yesterday it was very cold for summer!. Not so today--a great day to walk around the course, take a stroll through town (it rained while we were in a pub eating--horseshoes you know where) and check out the Cathedral ruins, which are quite spectacular.   All in all a wonderful way to end the Scotland portion of our trip.
