Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland
Wednesday morning, Canada Day, we got up, had breakfast (again too much), packed up and caught the 747 bus back to the airport to pick up our car from Dooley's Rental. It took a while to get everything sorted out, get to the car and actually get moving, but we weren't in too great a hurry. I was worried about finding my out of the airport and around Dublin without getting stuck going into town but it turned out to be breeze and we got headed out on the M9 for Kilkenny. About a 2 hour drive (I only got slightly lost when we got into town) and we got there in time to find a nice pub for a late lunch and head out to see some of the sights in town. It is a really neat little town with lots of medieval buildings and walls, not to mention a couple of breweries--and a ton of tourists. Weather was once again fabulous. We came back to our room at the Kilford Arms Hotel and found ourselves a place to stay for the next night, then went out to listen to some traditional Irish Music at a place called Kyteler's which has been in operation since the 1200's. The original proprietor was convicted as a witch and sentenced to be burned at the stake but she managed to flee the country with the help of some noblemen friends.

The unidentified church in Kilkenny is St Canice's Church (not St Canice's Cathedral) on Dean Street.
