A Quick Tour of London & That's a Wrap

Toronto, Ontario, Canada
For Tuesday, our last day, we decide to take a hop-on-hop-off bus tour around London. Well, we spent a lot more time on the bus than we expected. The traffic in Central London, especially near Victoria Station was a nightmare. so it took a long time to get from one stop to the next. Of course we never seemed to come to a complete halt in front of anything interesting, either. Anyway, we saw a fair amount and learned a bit about the distinction between the "Royal" City of Westminster (where in fact most of London's attractions are) and the "non-Royal" City of London Later in the afternoon we took a "Jack the Ripper" walking tour from the Tower of London through a bit of East London near the old City's "square mile", which was quite interesting. It also killed some time as we were meeting our landlady from the place we stay in Bequia every winter for dinner at Brown's in Covent Garden a bit later. We finished off our tour at Piccadilly Circus and wandered over to Covent Garden. After dinner, we took the Tube home (only our second time using it) and got packed up for the trip home. In the morning, Tube and train to Gatwick and an uneventful Transat flight home--had exit row seats so lots of leg room-- until we got to the baggage pickup. A full hour and a half waiting for luggage--I think they stopped handling our flight twice to do other flights which started after ours but finished before. Anyway, safely home after a long trip and I am so happy that I won't be doing any driving for quite a while. I figure it was around 2000 miles of driving on the trip.   That's a lot of left-hand shifting! The thing that I will remember most about this trip, though, is the music in Ireland--the country seems to live on music (and the "black stuff" of course)!
