A Long Day and a Fabulous Dinner

Naples, Campania, Italy
Our Brussels Airlines flights went smoothly but it really does make for one very long day.  I think I got maybe 7 minutes of sleep (not consecutively) on the overnight flight from Toronto to Brussels.  This despite the fact that we upgraded to "Econmy Priveledge" at the airport for slighly more legroom (they had a half-price sale).  So I wasn't completely cramped, but I just can't sleep sitting up in a plane.   A 3+ hour layover in Brussels got us into Napoli at 1:00 PM.  We caught the Alibus shuttle to Garibaldi central station and took the Metro 1 stop to Universita.  Of course it took me a while to figure out which way was which when we got out of the Metro (I really have to use the compass on my camera more), but after 1 complete lap of the square we headed off in the right direction to our temporary home at M99 Design Rooms, in the historic centre, which was a very easy walk once we got headed in the right direction.  Unfortunately, there had been a bit of a miscommunication with our host, who was waiting for us to phone, while we were waiting at the door for him to arrive (we got there early though).  Of course, we don't have a phone that works in Italy (without bankrupting us).  Eventually (after an hour) we went into a little bar next door (surprise!), run by some lovely young ladies, had a drink and used their Wifi to call on Skype.  Anyway, finally got in and cleaned up somewhat.  The place is great and our host gave us all kinds of great tips to enjoy Napoli.  We decided to go for an early dinner of pizza at what is arguably the best pizza place in Napoli, and certainly the best in the "Centro Storico".  We knew we wouldn't last long anyway and the best way to get into this place was to get there well before they opened at 7:00 and form a queue, so that you get in for the first seating.  After that the wait apparently just gets longer and longer.  Of course there is a great cheap stand-up bar right next door, so getting there early and waiting was not a hardship.  And the pizza was just amazing!  It just melted in our mouths.
We split 2 pizzas and each had a half litre of wine, so we outlasted two turns of the table next to us.  And our waiter was a lot of fun.
Then home to bed and instantly asleep.  All in all, a great start to our trip.
