After a wet night in Poznan, we drove towards Warsaw for a 2 night stay.
The city of Warsaw and capital of Poland suffered so much destruction during the war. 85% of the city was destroyed and 800,000 perished. No other city in the world suffered so much loss of life and material destruction.
Despite this, a gigantic effort was undertaken to raise the capital city from ruins. The Old Town area has been completely reconstructed.
We very much enjoyed Warsaw and Poland. It was so cheap also! We had a great dinner at a local restaurant one night followed by drinks at the hotel with some of our tour group.
Our final stop in Poland was at the small town n Augustow where we found an underground restaurant and lunch could be ordered. Very little english was spoken here!
And, then...off to Lithuania.
