A luxury Ecolodge in the Rainforest

Daintree Ecolodge, Queensland, Australia
After a scenic and merry drive with our Liquorland purchases to the Daintree, we arrived at our accommodation about 6.30pm - Daintree Ecolodge. The place (only 15 rooms here) was absolutely gorgeous lit up at night with lights everywhere and our Canopy treehouse rooms were renovated and spectacular including an outdoor deck area with a day bed that was screened.
The Daintree Rainforest is a region on the northeast coast of Queensland and part of the largest continuous area of tropical rainforest in Australia and part of the Wet Tropics Rainforest which is the oldest continually surviving tropical rainforest in the world. Along the coastline, the forest grows right down to the edge of of the sea which is quite unusual.
After settling in, we had dinner on site at the restaurant and the food was really, really good. They have only been open for 2 weeks post Covid but you would never know as everything was very organized.
After a lovely nights sleep with our doors open to rainforest noises, we awoke to a lovely included breakfast and decided to head to Cape Tribulation for the day, where we had never been. It was a beautiful drive, and whilst there were a few vehicles on the road, it was fairly quiet and most places are still closed. So our lodge had packed us picnic hampers to have on the beach. The hampers were great with little hamburgers and salads and macadamias/strawberries/chocolates. And we packed an esky with some beers to have also.
It was a fairly long day but enjoyable and scenic. We stopped at a number of sightseeing locations on the way. Everywhere is very focused on social distancing. And, it was surprising just how many non-Aussies were travelling up here, they definitely outweighed the Aussie travelers today.
Our lodge waitress had recommended a watering hole on the way home which was hard to find but a gorgeous place. Tim had a swim!
Whilst most places are still closed, we did call in at some of the places that were open. The tourism industry (as many across the world) has been badly impacted here with Covid.
We called into Daintree village on the way back to our lodge but the hotel was closed. So we had a few drinks at our lodge bar before getting ready for our degustation dinner which was set up in a private garden under fairy lights. Every single course was sensational with the paired wines very good also. It was a lovely night in the rainforest. I am a bit fussy but loved every course - even the crocodile!
After another lovely breakfast overlooking the lagoon, it was time to head to our next destination - an old fave - Port Douglas. We would definitely recommend the Daintree Ecolodge for a luxury stay!
