My stay in Glasgow started with a roast dinner cooked by Ben and Forbes. Well, it was pointed to me that it technically was not a roast dinner as there were no roast potatoes, and only a roast chicken. Anyways, it was really good. We had cupcakes from Bibi's (St Andrews) for dinner as I figured they might miss them.

I went to see Richard and his new lab . Things haven't changed too much: the people are the same, only the place is different. I guess I have only been gone for a year... Glasgow though is much different form St Andrews. When it comes to picking a pub or a place for food there is a multitude of choices. And I don't know anywhere. But they know a few.

The pub next to the botanical garden is a rehabilitated church. Inside Oran Morr, it looks a bit like inside The Central, probably only because of the square bar in the middle. I went to the botanical garden with Alex after having lunch there. We just went to the greenhouse and it was the first time I saw that many furry plants! Or maybe I never paid attention before.

In the evening we went the Jamie's Italian restaurant with almost all the people from the lab. The food was not that great but never mind, it was fun. After the meal we randomly turned into a side alley and found a pub called 'The Lab'. How geeky! So we walked in to find out they serve cocktail in test tubes . Had to have those :) they were actually pretty nice and contained more alcohol than we first thought.



J'ai été accueilli à Glasgow avec un rôti préparé par Ben et Forbes. Ce n'était pas le traditionnel Sunday roast puisque c'était un poulet et qu'il n'y avait pas de patates mais on s'est quand même régalé. Pour le dessert on a mangé les cupcakes que j'ai ramené de St Andrews, je m'étais dit que ça devait leur manquer.

Je suis allée voir Richard dans ses nouveaux locaux. Rien n'a vraiment changé: les gens sont les mêmes; seulement l'endroit est différent. Je suppose que je ne suis partie que depuis un an.... Glasgow est quand même pas mal différent de St Andrews, quand il faut choisir un endroit où aller manger il y a énormément de choix. Et je n'y connais rien. Heureusement que eux connaissent quelques endroits sympas.

Le pub à côté du jardin botanique est une église réhabilitée. A l'intérieur de Orran Morr, c'est un peu comme le Central, à cause du bar carré qui se tient au milieu. Avec Alex; on a été au jardin botanique et c'est la première fois que je voyais autant de plantes poilues! Ou peut-être qu'avant je ne faisais pas attention. Le soir j'ai retrouvé tous les gens du labo au restaurant; Jamie's Italian. Jamie Oliver est très connu de ce côté de la Manche, il a écrit plusieurs livres de cuisine et il passe souvent à la TV. Le repas n'avait rien de sensationnel mais c'était vraiment chouette de voir tout le monde. Après le resto, on marchait un peu au hasard en ville et on est tombé sur un pub appellé 'The Lab'. En bon petit geek que nous sommes, on s'est arrêté là. Ils servent des cocktails dans des tubes à essai. Pas moyen de ne pas commander ça!
