The south East of Suffolk is very flat with estuaries and sea shores being very muddy, thus this area is called the mud flat. The scenery of the seashore at Orford is not particularly dramatic however Orford is a picturesque village. As we have found very often along our journey across England, British villages are usually very nice. On our way there we passed a house out of a fairy tale. It doesn't show well on the picture but this red bricks house with its thatched roof, its walls covered with ivy and all the multicolored flowers at the front just reminded both of us of Hansel & Gretel.

In the evening we went with Tom for a digestive walk . The initial plan was to take a quit walk to have a view at the estuary with Fellixstowe in the background and then have a couple of pints at the local pub but it was close. Thus we extended our walk a little and then had to retreat to Tom's place for a drink. Just a few, tomorrow is the big drive to our final destination and we have to go around London, we hope the traffic won't be too bad.



Le sud est du Suffolk est très plat avec des estuaires et un front de mer boueux, cette région est donc appelée les 'mud flat' (littéralement boue plate). Le paysage du bord de mer n'a rien de sensationnel cependant le petit village de Orford est charmant. Comme nous avons remarqué souvent durant notre périple à travers l'Angleterre, les villages anglais ont beaucoup de charmes. En chemin vers Orford on a passé une maison semblant sortir tout droit d'un conte de fée. Ça ne se voit pas très bien sur la photo mais cette maison en briques rouges avec son toit de chaume, ses murs couverts de lierre et des parterres de fleurs multicolores nous a rappelé à tous les deux le conte de Hansel & Gretel.

Dans la soirée, nous sommes allés faire un petit tour avec Tom. Le plan était de marcher un peu pour aller voir l'estuaire et Felixstowe en fond (grand port de fret) et ensuite de boire une bière ou deux dans le pub du coin. Ce dernier étant fermé nous avons allongé notre balade et ensuite nous sommes rentrés chez Tom pour boire un coup. Juste un peu car demain nous avons une longue étape jusqu'à Brighton et en chemin il faut contourner Londres, on craint un peu le trafic.
