Vikash and Shankari wedding was just grandiose. We were invite to all the celebrations. It was an epic 4 days of celebrations. The pre-nuptial reception and the wedding ceremony where in Coimbatore. The reception is kind of an introduction of the bride and the groom. After a short ceremony, they were greeted by over 2 000 people. It was just an awful lots of people. We had to line up to go on stage, greet them, had a picture taken and then we went for dinner. They had a catering hall with a lot of specialty dishes. Very good. The wedding ceremony was the following morning. Tom and I dressed in our best and most traditional Indian clothes. I think we looked good. The ceremony lasted for 1h/1h30 and I don't really know what was happening. I think sometime neither Vikash nor Shankari had any idea. It just involved a lot of singing, flowers, incense, standing, seating, going around the stage. In Europe we have rings to seal the wedding, here Vikash had to tie a nod around Shankari's neck. Tom was on stage for most of it and I was asked to come up to throw rice at them. It's a blessing. The all thing was utterly fascinating!


Le mariage de Vikash et Shankari était grandiose . Nous étions invités à toutes les parties, ce qui représente quatre jours de fête. La réception d'avant-mariage et la cérémonie de mariage ont eu lieux à Coimbatore. La réception est une sorte d’introduction des futurs mariés. Après une courte cérémonie, plus de 2000 personnes ont défilé sur la scène pour les féliciter. Je ne plaisante même pas, il y avait un nombre de personne impressionnant. On a dû faire la queue pour aller féliciter les fiancés et être pris en photos. Après on a profité du repas composé de plats spéciaux. Vraiment excellent. La cérémonie de mariage était le lendemain matin. Tom et moi nous sommes habillés dans nos habits indiens traditionnels nouvellement acquis. Je pense qu’on avait un super look. La cérémonie à durée 1h-1h30 et je n’ai pas compris grand-chose mais je crois qu’à certains moments ni Vikash ni Shankari n’avaient la moindre idée de ce qu’il se passait. En Europe on a des alliances pour représenter le mariage, ici Vikash a du faire trois nœuds autour du cou de Shankari. Tom était sur la scène pour la plupart du temps et j’ai été invitée à la fin pour jeter du riz jaune sur le couple. Toute la cérémonie était vraiment fascinante!
