Chi-Jene picked me up at the airport. I was just allowed to drop my rucksack at the hostel and we were off to the night market to try weird food. So we started with pork belly soup accompanied by a Taiwanese hamburger, then we had tofu and vegetable and for dessert sweet congee (type of rice porridge). The old women at the congee stand randomly knew I am French.... Apparently I just look French.

The next day, Chi-Jene took me for breakfast (some sort of dough and soya milk) before visiting the Lin's family historical residence . It's a very nice place. Once I am rich and have my own house I want a pond with a bridge in my garden and a moon door (very important). Then we had a lovely lunch with her family (her dad was impressed by my chopstick skills) before heading off to Tamsui. It is about 1h north on the subway. It is a very popular place among the youth. There is lots of stands to get random food like massive ice cream, squid (roast or fried), sausages, tea and so on... We watch the sunset from Fort San Domingo. It was built by the Dutch back in the 17th century. I was actually exhausted when I got back to my hostel.

On Sunday we met at 11am (oh yeah sleep time!) and went to the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial were we saw the changing of the guard. We had an all you can eat Taiwanese buffet on the site of a former brewery. The afternoon was very chill out. We hanged around Huashan Creative Park and spent most of the afternoon chatting in a coffee shop.

We had dinner with Chi-Jene's friends at Taipei 101 . It is the tallest building in Taiwan and the 3rd tallest in the world. To get to the 89th floor you have to take to fastest elevator in the world. It goes at 1,010m/min (about 37.7 miles/h). I didn't liked it too much, my ears got really sore. From the observation deck Taipei seems very flat. You are so high than nothing can stand out. Maybe it is better during day time when you can see the mountains (I probably won't go back, it is a bit expensive).

For my last night in Taipei (well before I come back after my island tour) I finally managed to have bubble tea. I really like that drink. It is sweet tapioca beads in tea (black with milk or green).



Chi-Jene est venue me récupérer à l'aéroport. Elle m'a juste laissé le temps de poser mon sac à l'auberge avant de m'amener au Night Market pour goûter les spécialités locales. Donc nous avons commencé par de la soupe d'intestin de porc, ensuite des légumes avec du tofu et pour finir un congee sucré (sorte de porridge de riz) . La vieille dame qui tenait le stand de congee a su que j'étais française avant même que je n'ouvre la bouche ... apparemment j'ai juste l'air française.

Le lendemain j'ai retrouvé Chi-Jene à 10h. Elle m'a amenée petit déjeuner pas loin, au menu: une espèce de pain et un verre de lait de soja. Une fois le ventre plein, on a visité l'ancienne résidence de la famille Lin. Les jardins sont vraiment superbes. Donc c'est décidé une fois que je suis riche et que j'ai ma maison, j'aurai un jardin avec une mare et un petit pont et une porte en forme de pleine lune. A midi, on a mangé avec sa famille et son père a été impressionné par mon habileté à manier les baguettes. Ensuite, on a fait environ 1h de métro pour se rendre à Tamsui (au nord de Taipei). C'est un coin très en vogue auprès des jeunes. Il y a plein de stands qui vendent tout un tas de nourriture: glaces géantes, calamars (fris ou rôtis), saucisses, thé et j'en passe. On a regardé le coucher du soleil depuis le fort San Domingo . Il a été construit par les Hollandais au 17ème siècle mais à un nom espagnol car les Hollandais ont vaincu les Espagnols et ont rasé le fort espagnol qui était là avant. Après tout ça j'étais carpette en rentrant à l'auberge.

Dimanche matin = grasse mat'. Je n'ai rejoint Chi-Jene qu'à 11h. On a commencé par la visite du Memorial Chiang Kai Shek où on a assisté à la relève de la garde. On a mangé dans l'ancienne distillerie de bière de la ville. On s'est pété le bide car c'était buffet à volonté. Du coup, l'aprèm' on s'est juste baladé dans le quartier Huashan et on s'est posé dans un café.

Le soir on a rejoint des potes de Chi-Jene pour dîner au pied du Taipei 101. C'est le plus haut gratte-ciel de Taiwan et le 3ème plus haut du monde! Pour monter au 89ème étage il faut prendre l'ascenseur le plus rapide du monde. Il va à 1 010 m/min (environ 60 km/h), autant dire que mes oreilles ont moyennement apprécié. De là-haut Taipei à l'air complètement plat. On est tellement plus haut que tout le reste paraît dérisoire. C'est peut-être mieux durant la journée quand on peut voir les montagnes alentour (mais je ne vais sûrement pas remonter pour vérifier, c'est relativement cher).

Pour ma dernière soirée à Taipei (avant que je revienne après avoir fini mon tour de l'île) j'ai enfin réussi à boire un bubble tea. J'aime trop cette boisson. Ce sont des billes sucrées de tapioca avec du thé (noir et lait ou vert).
