Going west

Nova Gorica, Slovenia
We decided to move on today to western Slovenia, and got less than half way before the expected rain came - but at least we packed up in the dry! Our new area is hilly rather than mountainous, and in the wine-growing area about 30 mins from the Adriatic and 10 mins from the Italian border.
The site, Camping Lijak Active, is lovely - fairly flat & grassy, but they've also had a lot of rain so its pretty wet under foot. It has its own landing field for paragliders, so we've been watching them launch from the hill behind us, soar about on the thermals then land about 50 yards away from our caravan.
First impressions of the site were that it was quite scruffy, but they are currently updating by having a new reception block built which is a bit behind schedule – a computer on a desk in an otherwise empty, just plastered building! The toilet block looks semi-derelict from the outside, but the interior is the most modern one we've encountered, with porcelain bowls and pillar taps, washing machines & dryers and even a camp dishwasher - €1 for 6 mins! Just shows you shouldn't rely on first impressions.
We drove into the big town 5 mins away - Nova Gorica, which is a pleasant modern place and very different to most of the towns we've been near recently. This afternoon's rain drove away the paragliders & consequently us back under the awning :( Hopefully the sun will catch us up again tomorrow.....
