A story of missing meat - and a church

Rottenbuch, Bavaria, Germany
An easy day today - we chilled at the van this morning then went to the nearest large town to shop as the only meat the local supermarket does is sausages. True, they sell many varieties of sausage, but basically it is just sausages. We bought a good selection of fresh meat including 2 really nice pieces of entrecote steak to barbecue, totalling around €20 - more of this later.

Back at the site, the mid-day thunderstorm knocked out the wifi, but fortunately not the sat-tv so R could watch the F1 qualifying - my afternoon would have been very difficult if it had! That completed, we decided to visit a church not far away, which we'd spotted yesterday & my guidebook said was worth a visit. It is called Wieskirche - the Church in the Meadow and it really was, full of buttercups and grazing horses. It had quite a plain exterior but inside......the pictures speak for themselves.

It was stunning, particularly the ceiling and around the organ - the altar was amazing, full of statues and flying cherubs, but it didn't appeal to me as much as the rest. Have a look at the pictures and decide for yourself. The afternoon had turned out beautiful again, so we drove through little villages & meandered our way back. The houses around here are very alpine looking (not surprising really!) with painted frames round the windows and murals painted on the plaster of the walls.

Now back to the story of our steaks. Bbq time came & I went to get the meat out, but couldn't find it. We had the fridge apart, then the rest of the cupboards (more than once) then the car (ditto), then started again. To cut a long & frustrating story short, the meat was nowhere to be found. R got out the receipt & found we hadn't been charged for it (phew).
The moral of this story is: make sure you put your meat in the right trolley....
