Our last proper day away - the rest will be travelling towards home :( We went to Stuttgart to visit the Porsche Museum & this is the last time I'll trust the satnav to get us there without having a proper idea in my head where we're going.

Our satnav Helga can be very good, but today she refused to believe that the A81 motorway junction we needed was closed & wouldn't re-route us. Cue turning round, heading up a main road (still trying to get us on the A81), turning round, unclear directions in a town resulting in nice views of extremely narrow cobbled back streets, re-finding the route, us turning too early & ending up on the A81 in the wrong direction, then having to do it all again as we had to exit where we couldn'tget on. If you see what I mean.

When we eventually got to the museum, it was actually very good - half price for seniors (always a bonus!) and a very nice wander round the exhibition of every model of Porsche ever produced. Sadly the tour of the actual factory was full and with a waiting list, but R enjoyed himself with all the technical aspects & I admired all the cars (That’s a nice colour; I like those seats; lovely paint finish etc etc).


We wandered around for a couple of hours listening to our own personal commentary through headphones, which made for more statistics than I ever wanted to know but at least the place was quiet!

Our route back home was much easiler than the journey there, thank goodness, via what we thought was a supermarket but turned out to be a gigantic off-licence, and then over the road to the food bit. This would be our last chance to shop properly, so we stocked up on wine and beer (and a bit of food) then headed home.





Back at the caravan we chilled over drinks with our friends, and put the world (and particularly education) to rights. Nobody knows better than 4 retired teachers! 2 bottles of wine and a lot of hot air later....here I am, so if this isn't coherent or is mis-spelled, you know why.
