A night in the Ardennes

Neufchateau, The Ardennes, Belgium

Typical - the hottest day of our hols so far at 27.5deg, & we're in the car all day! Helga the Satnav behaved herself today and we travelled 400km across Germany, through Luxembourg (where diesel is 75p a litre so we filled the tank!) & are in southern Belgium for the night. We used 5 different autobahns and every single one had long roadworks on it so it was hard going sometimes, but we got here.

We had planned to stay on the same site at Neufchateau in the Ardennes where we’d stayed in 2014, but discovered that it has since closed, so we went just 1km down the road to Camping Spineuse. It's a very nice site, again with good facilities and flat, grassed pitches, but it was very muddy as they've had 3 weeks of incessant rain.
The owner brought us some plastic grids to park on (better for us and also protects the grass) so we pitched up amongst lots of Dutch people doing the same thing. Everyone is really nice, but they all want to talk about the referendum....the consensus amongst Europeans is that the EU won’t exist in 5 years, and they all want their countries to leave too.

We had a lovely meal in the site restaurant: the most beautiful steak I've had in a long time with veg, salad, 2 sauces and fries accompanied by my new favourite beer, Hoegaarden with raspberries, also recommended by the friendly owner.
