Moving to the Black Forest

Herbolzheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
After a nice night’s stay in the very west of Austria (border with Liechtenstein 4km, Switzerland 10km) we moved on into Germany & are now in the Black Forest and 11km from the Rhine.
The highlight (NOT!!) of the day was an unscheduled tour of the back streets of Friedrichshaven. This involved being directed by Helga the satnav through roadworks and down a dead end, having to unhook the van & turn it round on the motor mover, & me accosting a passerby for directions of how to get out of the maze of little one way roadworks that had fooled Helga completely. We eventually emerged unscathed thankfully - all part of life’s rich tapestry on tour with the Woodwards.
On the way we travelled up the eastern side of the Bodensee (Lake Constance), and had nice views of the occasional pretty church, Trikes on Tour and an odd blue statue next to a church by the lake. We'd stayed in this area in 2016 and knew the delights it had to offer, but this time we were only passing through. The road is a good one but was very busy with traffic including many lorries, but thankfully Helga was more on form now & got us there with no more dramas.
We’re now on a very nice terraced site at Herbolzheim called Terrassencamping. Our van is level with the roof of the van on the row below, so if we could see past the trees we’d have a nice view! The facilities are excellent, Herr Owner speaks English so my German can have a rest after I’ve asked for a pitch and there is a restaurant on site – all this for €19 a night.
The very nice little restaurant & our adventures in the ‘burbs plus a long thundery shower welcoming us to the Black Forest meant we treated ourselves to a nice schnitzel for dinner & even nicer beer.
