Wet, wet, wet

Feriolo, Piedmont, Italy

It rained all night, just gently tapping on the van roof, but as we were under a large shady tree, the occasional very large drips made us jump on several occasions; that’s the trouble on shady pitches – you run the risk of noise on the roof if it rains. The lake looked lovely and calm from the windows, and there were some swans and ducks with 6 ducklings swimming just offshore. Mum & Dad wander about the site too as does the occasional swan.

We had a leisurely morning then set out in the car for the nearby town of Baveno as Hubby needed a fuse for his TV mains plug. It was very quiet, and although we found a couple of supermarkets, there was no electrical shop anywhere. Added to that, my dictionary wasn’t clear about the Italian for “fuse” – gave me a choice of “to join together” or one for a bomb....I think a trip to reception with the offending item in hand is needed. We carried on down the coast for a bit, then returned home to speak to said receptionist, who went in the back office and emerged with a choice of fuses, free!

It finally brightened up around 4pm so we caught up on a few chores and had a nice chat (in English) with the Swiss couple from next door over the washing up and back at the van. It always shames me that we cannot converse with neighbours in their own language (apart from French, and there seem to be none on this site), we have to rely on their English – but then again the other side of us are Norwegians, so NObody can talk with them! But we smile & exchange nods; caravanning is such a friendly occupation.
